I had Mia when I was 24. We found out we were pregnant and just about shit a brick, but things all work out. Right? Right.
She is a great kid. Smart, intelligent, quick witted and a very old soul. People flock to her like sheep. She likes to talk about things far beyond her years and she's a smart ass like her mama. I couldn't ask for more.
She was watching her Papa and her Daddy install the digital AC unit last week. I had brought it home for the guys to install while I watched the twins. I said "The box says it can be installed in 15 minutes!". While I got the "stink eye" from both of the men, they decided to install it anyway. Papa said "well, if it says a moron could do it, we should be able to".. halfway (30 minutes later) through the process- cut the power off, label the wires, cut the wires, un-install the previous unit, etc.. Mia said "So Papa, are you guys morons yet"?
That's my kid.

How we became a "team".
A little hindsight would be nice, yes? Yes.
Tim and I met in July of 2002. It was "total embarrassing crush at first sight". You might laugh at that..but you have yet to hear "our story".
I liked Tim. He was cute, quiet and kind. He was friends with a bunch of my friends so it was only a matter of time before we met. He played softball on a local beer league that a handful of my friends played in. He often reminds me of the first time we met. I was walking across a baseball field (totally not caring about the game going on) while I was looking for my friends. I had been doing laundry that day, so I wore sweats, a t-shirt and my favorite red and white Allen Iverson Tennis shoes...nothing glamorous. He smiles, I smiled back..
In the weeks to come, I went to every single game, practice and hung out with the team after the games. The girlfriends (my friends) made posters for their guys on game days with glitter, poster board..you name it. It was really just a great way for the girls to get a couple of cocktails in before a game, really- but it was cute. One game day, I made a sign with all of the guys names on it and RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE was "TIM" in size 72 font with gold glitter... I spent so much time on it that everyone else's names were about 14 font and written with sharpie...oops. Needless to say, somebody knew I had a crush on him.
I guess the embarrassing part to the story, was when my friend Kelly and I were at the guys house..(her boyfriend Mike, Tim and Joe shared an apartment). We were standing at the counter and I saw a piece of mail addressed to Tim Beamenderfer". "BEAMENDERFER?" I said, as we laughed. I grabbed a pen, a piece of paper and I wrote my whole entire first name, middle name and the elusive "Beamenderfer" about 5 times on a piece of paper. My first name, being almost as long as "Beamenderfer" looked hilarious on this piece of paper... we laughed, threw it out and forgot all about it.
Tim found it the next day..asked me out and such is the beginning of TEAM BEAM.

My very first "Blog"..ever.
As I find myself searching the Internet for useful "parents of multiples" blogs, I often wonder why I can't start my own. I'm not a know-it-all by any means, but if I can lend a helping hand or at least some laughs to some poor mother out there...it's totally worth it.
I also know that having children (of any age, any gender, etc..) often leaves you in a place of trying to "remember" EXACTLY what they had said the day before that had you cracking up, or that ONE story you would love to share with your daughters first boyfriend.. you know what I mean, I need some heavy artillery to pay my kids back for what they have and will put me through. I'm sure my children will bring laughs into the home that one day I will want to remember. And for this, I write this BLOG. Hallelujah.
